Amidst the hustle and bustle, smoke and noise of Kathmandu, there lived a man—no one knew his name exactly. Some called him “Shadow Man”, some “Dark Traveler”. But he never identified himself by name. He used to say-“My name is not a name, my struggle is my identity.”
His life was not ordinary. Since the age of 9, he had been carrying two kinds of burdens—firewood on one shoulder, life on the other. When he returned from school, he would bring not only studies, but also hunger, pain and responsibility.
But this was just the beginning…
Time passed, he reached every corner of the country. Sometimes he sweated in the hotel kitchen, sometimes he pushed a cart on the street, sometimes he saw the light of day all night printing newspapers. Sometimes he stood by the side of a patient in a hospital, sometimes he carried a dead body to the ghat, witnessing the futility of life.
But one thing always remained the same – he never gave up.
One day, strange things began to happen in Kathmandu.
As night fell, strange shadows began to appear in some parts of the city. The shadows looked like people, but they had no eyes – just darkness. Whoever saw these shadows, the next day, would dream of all the lies, sins and betrayals of their past… and within a few days, they would disappear.
People started to panic. The government remained silent. The media called it a “psychological illusion.” But the truth was much deeper than that.
Because those shadows were not coincidences.
Those shadows belonged to him.
The man, who had seen injustice, deceit, and hypocrisy all his life—he one day discovered a secret.
A power that could never be seen, which he called “the Last Judgment.”
This power was not a court, nor a god—it was the energy born from human actions. When society is filled with excessive injustice, corruption, and betrayal, that energy is transformed into “shadows.”
And those shadows began to reveal the truth one by one.
But the scariest thing was—
Those shadows didn’t kill anyone…
They only showed the truth.
And those who couldn’t bear the truth would disappear themselves.
One night, a journalist entered an old alleyway looking for those shadows. There he saw the man for the first time.
“Who are you?” The journalist asked.
He smiled slightly-
“Me? I am your shadow… which you have been ignoring for years.”
“Are you doing all these things?”
“No,” he said, “I am just the person who opens the door. What is inside, you have made it yourself.”
The journalist started to tremble.
“So… what happens now?”
He looked up at the sky and said-
“Now the world must be ready… because the shadows will not be limited to Kathmandu.”
A few days later-
The same shadows began to appear everywhere – India, America, Europe, Africa.
Politicians, businessmen, thugs, cheats – one by one their truths began to be made public. Chaos erupted all over the world, but at the same time a new consciousness was born.
People began to look into their souls for the first time.
But the last mystery still remained…
That man suddenly disappeared.
Only a piece of paper was found in his room, on which was written –
“I never existed.
I was inside you.
When you stop running away from the truth-
I disappear.”
Even today, a light shadow is seen walking in some of the old streets of Kathmandu after nightfall.
People say –
“The shadow has returned again.”
But some have quietly understood –
The shadow is not born outside, but inside.
And when society is filled with darkness…
Its treatment also begins from darkness.
