Nepal’s political history is full of sacrifice, struggle and sacrifice. The protection of freedom, equality and democratic values achieved by thousands of citizens by sacrificing their lives is still a challenging situation today. The outdated thinking and narrow-minded approach that takes the federal democratic republic for granted seems to be trying to block the pace of change. However, despite such obstacles, the fact that the new generation is becoming conscious and active towards building a brighter future is hopeful. Social and political change itself is not an easy process. History has clearly shown that citizens who raise their voices against injustice, discrimination and oppression have led society in the direction of progress. Such people have been established as symbols of courage, determination and independent consciousness. However, we should not forget the fact that in the name of change, not chaos, but prudent struggle, dialogue and organized efforts are necessary.
The current weakness of leadership, opportunism and mob mentality seen at the local level have promoted unhealthy political culture. This has weakened social cohesion and created serious obstacles to development and good governance. If local youth do not play an active role with a sense of responsibility, the future of the village and society will be increasingly uncertain. Youth participation should not be limited to protest but should be focused on identifying problems and finding solutions.
Competent, honest and accountable leadership is indispensable to ensure the rights, security and opportunities of citizens in Kathmandu district and across the country. Only such leadership can challenge corruption, old failed structures and dysfunctional thinking. In addition, democracy can be established in practice by strengthening citizen participation from policy formulation to implementation. Overall, three elements seem to be essential for the positive transformation of society: an aware community, responsible leadership and individual responsibility. Democratic values become strong only when the desire for change is put into practice, not just limited to slogans. Active citizenship, creative struggle and ethical leadership are the pillars of building a bright future for society.
